Waiting For Your Permanent Crown
At Gwinnett Family Dental Care, we offer our patients cosmetic dental crowns. A crown can hold a dental bridge in place, replace a lost tooth, and cover a dental implant or severe discolorations and irregularly shaped teeth. A crown also is useful when protecting a weak or cracked tooth from further decay or restoring a broken tooth. A dental crown will improve the appearance of your smile and the function and health of your teeth.
If our team at Gwinnett Family Dental Care determines that a crown is necessary, you will need to book two future appointments with us. During your first appointment, your tooth is prepared to place a permanent crown. We will also fit you with a temporary crown to utilize while your permanent restoration is being fabricated. This fabrication process typically takes approximately two weeks. During your second visit, it will be permanently placed in your mouth.
Tips For Caring For Your Temporary Crown
- Avoid chewy, sticky foods until your permanent crown has been placed.
- Avoid popping up and down between your temporary crown and the adjacent tooth while flossing.
- Brush as usual.
- If your temporary crown comes off, call our office to get it re-cemented.
- Call our office if your bite does not feel normal.
